MY COLLECTION
One of the things I love doing at all the conventions Committed Comics attends is see the fans. In meeting the fans I also get a lot of people asking me how I started my company or what do I look for in a "good" comic or what my personal collection is like. Well I thought I would cover some of those things.
I guess the easiest thing to do would be to talk about my own collection. I'm going to choose this topic because I don't have to do any research for this one (everything is stored in my mental filing cabinet). As of right now I have about 30 small boxes of comics. Each small box holds roughly 200-225 comics. So if you do some quick math...
45 times 6...carry the one...subtract the national debt...add the number of cookies I eat in a day... You pretty much get a little over 6500 comics. Now I know what some of you are saying...well that's not that many!! Well that doesn't take into account the prints, toys, history books, reference guides, original artwork and other nick-knacks (trust me if you ever get the chance to talk to my girlfriend about my collection she will let you know that it's a lot of books!) Well, I know one or two of you are thinking...what does that 6500 collection consist of?
Well I have a wide range of interests from the typical super hero books from the big boys to the smaller independent press guys. Here is a random list of some of the books in my collection:
I also have plenty of artwork, not only from the Committed team but also from other artist. There are a few pieces that I own that I am very proud of (one is obvious and the other is not).
The obvious piece of artwork that I own that I am proud of is a page from Mister Miracle #16 page 23 by Jack Kirby. The second piece of artwork that I own which I am very proud of is not original artwork at all but a limited print of the Predator by Jordan Raskin. It is a beautiful print and one that is framed and sitting in my office.
I'll continue more about my collection in my next column but I think I've rattled on long enough...
